The people behind the London Colombian Film Festival:

Armando Mendoza

Director & Founder

Armando Mendoza is a Colombian designer and Marketing Artist currently working in the UK gaming industry. Before relocating in 2020, he organized cultural film events in the Czech Republic and worked as an Industrial Designer in Colombia, where he also led a prominent drawing club supported by the US Embassy.

Investor & Co-founder

Hong Nguyen is a senior executive and finance leader with over 25 years of global experience in media, music, and gaming. Having held leadership roles at Fox, Myspace, Vevo, and Supercell, he specializes in scaling high-growth businesses. Hong brings deep expertise in finance, operations, and strategy, guiding companies from startup to acquisition.

Alina Hleap

Industry lead & Co-Founder

A graduate of Universidad del Valle, this producer has over 30 years of experience, including award-winning films like La Sargento Matacho. She directs FUNDACIÓN ENIC PRODUCCIONES and SAPCINE, a major Ibero-American project incubator. Since 2018, she has served as the National Representative of Producers for the CNACC and the National Film Commission.

Strategic Advisor

A London-based corporate risk executive and governance advisor, Diana Higgins leverages her extensive experience in global regulated markets and leadership in the Colombian diaspora via Uniandinos UK. At LCFF, she bridges the gap between the financial sector and the creative industries, utilizing cinema as a powerful platform to unite cultural expression with corporate engagement.

Jorge Cadena

Programmer

Jorge Cadena is an award-winning Colombian filmmaker based in Switzerland. His shorts, including El cuento de Antonia and Flores del otro patio, have garnered accolades at Rotterdam, the Berlinale, and SXSW. Currently developing his first feature, Jorge also acts as a co-programmer for FILMAR en América Latina and an international festival juror.

Nelly Ford-Attia

Lead Interpreter

Nelly is an Oxford University student specializing in Spanish and Latin American literature. A vital member of the festival team, she serves as Lead Interpreter, facilitating live Spanish-to-English Q&A sessions. With extensive experience in translation prizes and archival work in Colombia, she acts as a crucial linguistic bridge between artists and our international audience.

Mónica Lopera

Brand Ambassador

Monica Lopera is a celebrated Colombian-American actress based in London. With a diverse international career in film and television, she is known for her roles in the BBC’s Killing Eve, Netflix’s The Hijacking of Flight 601, and the hit comedy Loco Por Vos. Monica also voices characters in the UK animated series The Adventures of Paddington.

Diana Bermudez 

Brand Ambassador

Diana Bermudez is a British-Colombian actress known as the first Colombian-born actress in a Marvel production (Moon Knight). Her extensive credits include Silo, Rambo V, and Baldur's Gate 3. Beyond her on-screen and voice work, Diana is a passionate advocate for diversity, championing Latin American representation and the reclamation of Indigenous roots and identity.

Videographer and Media Creator

Paola Gomez is a Colombian-born, London-based videographer and audiovisual storyteller. Through Awaken Media Prod, she creates authentic documentaries, podcasts, and photography that plant seeds of change and awakening. Her work includes podcast AwakeNomada, Emigrar es Emprender for the Colombian Consulate, and she is currently working on her next documentary, A Pathway Home through Art.

Photographer

London-based photographer and the founder of Camino Magazine, a platform for socially engaged documentary work. Specializing in event photography within arts and cultural spaces, she has extensive experience leading workshops with youth and collaborating with charities on award-winning publications that focus on community empowerment and representation.
