Short Films Selection
Expanding the visual landscape of the festival, a dedicated Short Film Exhibition will be hosted at the Instituto Cervantes on July 21st and July 22nd. This curated two-part showcase acts as a vital laboratory for emerging and established voices, pushing aesthetic and thematic boundaries to map out alternative topographies of Colombian life and identity.
Part 1: Cartografías Queer
An intense, poetic, and subversive exploration of identity, desire, and resistance that challenges societal conformity and explores liberation through alternative lenses.

La perra – Carla Melo’s striking animated exploration of female desire and societal guilt, tracked through a girl's complex relationship with her dog amid family separation.

Vienen las grietas – Daniel Mateo Vallejo’s hypnotic narrative tracing a gallery worker’s psychological obsession with escaping an oppressive workspace into the thick of nature.

El mundo es afuera – Pablo Roldán’s gentle character study following a shy sculptor who steps out of his isolated bubble during a transformative summer house visit.

Salsa – Antonina Kerguelén Román’s beautifully inclusive tale of a free-spirited woman and a deaf tourist who forge a unique, tactile connection through the power of rhythm.

Flores del otro patio – Jorge Cadena’s fierce profile of a group of queer activists in northern Colombia utilizing extravagant performance art to denounce corporate coal mine exploitation.

THE LONDON COLOMBIAN FILM FESTIVAL
Welcome to the first edition of the London Colombian Film Festival 2026, where we proudly present the celebration of the “Diversity of Voices." Our core objective is to showcase uncommon, vital cinematographic narratives that move far beyond the predictable headlines of violence and drugs. By turning the global spotlight onto the magic, deep resilience, immense talent, and creative dreams at the heart of our culture, we reveal a nuanced portrait of contemporary identity.
Through our curated Official Selection, we champion bold contemporary fiction, documentaries, and animation from a multi-faceted generation of creators. Simultaneously, our historic Caliwood Retrospective honors the legendary pioneers of the "Tropical Gothic" genre, highlighting the exceptional maturity, heritage, and ongoing evolution of Colombia’s cinematic industry.
A special spotlight on Cali in this inaugural edition beautifully aligns with the landmarks and spirit of the Latin American diaspora in London, drawing inspiration from the urban streets where we loudly celebrate our identity and presence. Anchored by the infectious energy of our Official Festival Song, "Oilo" by El Gallegueso y La Mambanegra, London audiences will experience 14 days of immersive Colombian filmmaking from July 13th to 26th.
